Delight in the law of the LORD

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2 ESV)
Daily devotions like this one is great. Whether you’re the sort of person who wakes at dawn’s early light or (like me) feels that the quiet moments past midnight alone is the best time to spend with the LORD…. it doesn’t matter because you’re spending time with the LORD!
How many of us grab, as the first thing in the morning, a newspaper? Or click on a news portal when we log on. You’re gonna be assailed with a lot of things: facts, news, gossip, even the (God forbid) daily horoscope. Sure, for better or worse to some of us these things give us a bearing on how we start or end the day.
Why not rely on the WORD of God? Why let politicians hijack your day? Why take it wisdom from the world? Why even allow false belief into your life?
We’re only human. But we’re redeemed humans, children of the One True God, King of kings, the LORD of lords: Jesus Christ! Who is the propitiation of our sins. Thank you LORD!
Prayer points:
- Ask the LORD to help us relate to Him
- Ask then, to relate to the world.
Prayer of the day:
Dear LORD, I thank you for today. Your mercies are new every morning as we are reminded. LORD, you’re our shield and guide…. there’s none like you! Heavenly Father, precious LORD Jesus Christ, wise counselor of God, take me through the day and may your light shine to out there, so brightly, for the world that needs it. Amen.
