You know it altogether
“Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether” (Psalm 139:4, ESV)
It’s been more than a week since Lent begun. So how was yours? Did you fast? How did you fast?
Traditionally, food will be the first thing good Christians will choose to fast on. The current generation will fast from social media (at the rate some “update” themselves online, it’s understandable why they will consider it an addiction”).
Whatever you choose to fast from, we hope you’ve a spiritually fulfilling time.
When a person choose to fast, according to Scripture that person is choosing to abstain from the need of the flesh to devote the time to God. Hunger, sloth, etc, are overcomed NOT BY WILLPOWER (all right, a little) but by the simple fact that this person choose to focus on God so intensely that all else is ignored.
That is good. The LORD knows our we say even before we say it, so if indeed we make it a habit put God first it will become a lifestyle. It is through a time of self deprivation that we truly learn to consider Him first.
1) Pray that every redeemed soul in His name will come closer to Him, not only during Lent but all the time
2) Pray that in our time with Him, we learn that it is also our duty to share with the world who will perish without Him.
PRAYER:
Dear LORD, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ. Although He was God, He chose to be like us. He too fasted and was tempted but came out without sin. He was righteousness and he redeemed us. Thank you, O LORD and now I pray that you’ll teach me to be more humble and to be more like your Son. I pray that you’ll teach me, like Him, to be brave, to be convicted of the truth and put the burden on me to tell the gospel to the world out there. Thank you LORD. Amen
