Pastor’s Note.
Christmas Eve, 24th December
Dear Leaders and Members of Trinity Methodist Church PJ,
Warmest greetings in the Blessed Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and it is a time for us to give praise and thanksgiving for the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ. It is a day for us to pray, meditate on God’s Word and sing Christmas carols/hymns to declare the birth of our Lord and Saviour.
As I shared in my pastoral letter dated on 20th December, like the Easter season earlier this year, for many of us, this will be our first time having the Chrismas Eve service and Christmas Day Service in our respective homes due to the spike of Covid-19 cases in Selangor. And, our District (Petaling Mukim) is still under the red zone.
I have enclosed the liturgy (pdf format) to worship and celebrate Christmas Eve as a family or as individuals.
Guidelines for candlelight service @ home (page 2)
1. If possible, please prepare a white candle (a long one) with a candle holder and place it on the table where the family will gather.
2. Prepare a candle for each family member.
3. The head of the household shall serve as the Liturgist, reading the unbold passages, while the rest of the family members respond with the bold passages.
4. YouTube links for the carols are provided in the Order of Worship. Just click on the links in the order of service. Alternatively, family members may provide piano or guitar accompaniment. All the carols are found in the United Methodist Hymnal.
5. Please feel free to sing more carols.

“And there were shepherds living out in the field, keeping watch over the flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
