Membership.
To be a member of Trinity Methodist Church Petaling Jaya (TMC PJ) means pledging to work out one’s discipleship with Jesus Christ in and through the community of faith. While there are privileges afforded to a member, they are to be viewed as opportunities to further the kingdom of God and participate in the ministries of Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.
How can you become a member of the community of faith?
Through one of three ways below:
- By profession of faith
- By confirmation/reaffirmation
- By transfer (from another community of faith)
We welcome you.
Prior to your joining , you will have to undergo a 15-week BCM course (Baptism-Confirmation-Membership) that covers the meaning of the Christian faith and provides an overview of the Methodist history, beliefs, organizations and missions. This course is held twice a year (commencing in the months of February and August), in-person, usually on Saturdays from 2.30 – 4.30 pm in our church meeting rooms.
There will be a formal reception of your membership into the community of faith during a Baptismal, Confirmation & Covenant & Reception of Membership Service at the completion of the BCM course (usually early June on the 1st half of the year and early December on the 2nd half).
INFANT/CHILDREN BAPTISM (age 1 month – 13 yo)
Methodist Churches in Malaysia practice children baptism. This is primarily founded upon the understanding of the covenant a relationship God has initiated with His people. Parents who present their children for child/infant baptism make a covenant to bring up their children in the saving knowledge of our Lord God and prepare them for the ratification of their baptism through confirmation at the age 16 or before (if parents are of the view their child is ready for such a step to be taken by him/her).
Infant/Children Baptism is held twice a year (usually mid-April and mid-December).
